New Advanced TRUMPF Machine Added To Penn Elcom Production Line

First in the UK:  New advanced TRUMPF machine added to Penn Elcom production line

2022 saw the arrival of not one, not two, but three new TRUMPF machines at Penn Elcom Hastings, UK!

At the end of January 2022, after a much-anticipated wait, we received delivery of the TRUMPF TruMatic 3000. The first in the UK, the TruMatic 3000 combines the advantages of punching technology with high-quality laser cutting, which enables Penn Elcom to increase production levels and streamline our manufacturing process. Not only this, but the technology provided by TRUMPF’s top-of-the-range machines allows for increased transparency, flexibility and cost-effectiveness.

This high-tech machine gives our manufacturing process an innovative edge, reducing time-intensive tasks and producing high-quality results in a 25% more compact design, increasing space within our facilities to further expand our machine range in the future. The TruMatic 3000 is one of several upgrades to our Hastings, UK facility that we will be making over the next 12 months.

“Our philosophy is simple,” states Penn Elcom Founder and Chairman Roger Willems. “We took a decision over 20 years ago when we installed our first TRUMPF, a TC2020 punch, that we would systematically replace each machine after a maximum of five years’ service. This strategy means we get the best out of each machine in terms of performance and reliability, and benefit from TRUMPF’s continuous technology improvements.” We are excited about utilising this technology and ensuring we keep up with demand without sacrificing our reputable brand excellence.

The TruMatic 3000 has an extremely complex build and installation process, but with tremendous effort by the TRUMPF engineers, the system was active and operational beyond original expectations. The Germany-based tech company TRUMPF is one of the world’s largest providers of machine tools and offers advanced manufacturing solutions. Founded in 1923, TRUMPF is at the forefront of the development and innovation of industrial machinery. At Penn Elcom, we have had a close relationship with TRUMPF for many years. “We’ve had over 50 TruPunch, TruLaser, TruMatic and TruBend machines from TRUMPF in the past 20 years,” states Roger Willems. “We’re fairly prolific with our policy of replacement. Of course, we could keep them longer, but if we have the funds available to reinvest, we should, as we get the best out of the machines. We have an excellent working relationship with TRUMPF.”

As we continue to expand our global manufacturing capabilities, TRUMPF remains a leading brand that we trust to help us achieve our business ambitions and goals.

“We actually have three more new TruPunch 3000 machines: one arrived in October 2022, one at the end of November 2022 and the third should be arriving in April 2023,” says Roger Willems. “These are upgrades on existing models, making sure that the machines we have on-site are always current. TruPunch 3000 machines are capable of doing everything we want and, over the years, have become our standard go-to model.”
