Spotlight on our cities around the world: Bogotá

This month we’re taking you to the beating heart of Colombia: Bogotá where our man Luis Montalvan gave us his insight into what it’s like to live and work there. He told us the first thing he loved when he arrived was the weather, with it always being temperate and never too hot or cold - we could certainly appreciate that in some of our colder offices!

Of course, food is always a unique and interesting topic so we asked him what one dish must a visitor try and his answer was the delicious-sounding arepas dish. A widely-enjoyed breakfast flatbread, it’s usually accompanied by a hot drink and eggs and sausages. Luis explained that it also has many regional varieties, stuffed with roasted pork and cheese being some particularly tasty alternatives.

Finally, Luis told us all about a special location that he loves - the sanctuary at Monserrate and its breathtaking views of the city where he goes to relax and unwind from the hustle and bustle. Its full name, The Sanctuary of the Lord of Monserrate is 3172 meters above sea level on the Las Nieves hill and is accessible by funicular or a vigorous walk - if you’re feeling particularly fit.
