Brand new for Penn Elcom’s catalogue is the Vulcan shockmount chassis which promises to keep rack components safe even in the most extreme conditions. Tested to incredibly high military standards, it will withstand accidents during transportation that would normally damage sensitive electronic components inside.
The Vulcan integrates patented technology that improves on older chassis by employing a unique triangular extrusion design, bestowing it with incredible strength. This means it is now possible to construct the chassis from high-grade aluminium instead of traditional steel making it far lighter than before at just 3kg for a 6U rack.
Now Penn Elcom customers have access to affordable military-grade shockmount racking, opening up new possibilities for flight case design and usage. The Vulcan will ensure that contents stay safe even if dropped, shaken or struck as the testing video below will demonstrate.
The new design also means it’s so easy to build that we deliver it as a flat pack kit, making it far less spacious to store than a pre-built chassis. Truly a consumer product, it can be conveniently stored until needed and then assembled in the same way as conventional racking. Connecting each piece is simple due to its precisely machined ‘slide-and-lock’ design, taking just 6 minutes to completely assemble a typical model.
