It’s a very special month for us at Penn Elcom, our Hastings, UK factory has taken delivery of one of the most advanced production machines yet.
A brand new Trumpf TruLaser 1030 is now the (very large) occupant of a fully dedicated warehouse space and weighs in at a heavyweight 5500 kg.
This modern marvel of steel fabricating is a self-contained unit exceptionally productive at processing thin sheets of stainless and mild steel with a fusion cutting process. Its solid-state 2D laser is fully automated, enabling our technical operators to programme a variety of cutting and punching templates which are then processed at lightning speed.
Importantly, however, the TruLaser 1030 is also highly cost-effective and energy-efficient which is integral to our ethos of environmental responsibility. The clever software creates as little waste as possible by arranging individual pieces optimally within the sheet. Once the sheet has been consumed, it is dispensed directly onto a pallet, ready for recycling. Smaller offcuts of steel are gathered in the hopper so every part of the sheet is either used or recycled.
Watching the clever assembly of components turn freshly delivered sheets of high-grade steel into finely-cut batches of 19-inch and flight case products is something everyone in the factory is always happy to admire!
