Penn Elcom Hastings has commissioned local artist Dale Matthews to produce 3 exclusive, original art pieces to celebrate Penn Elcom’s heritage and growth to display in their offices.
Dale Matthews was born in Hastings in 1990 and only recently considered himself an artist. After a decade as an engineer, a post-pandemic shift led him to explore his creative side where he stumbled into a hidden world of colour and texture. During this time, he painted a piece that led him to work on television as a prop assistant, building sets & working with such names as Ant & Dec and Leigh Gill. This then led Dale to work as a fine art consultant where he has connected art collector’s & enthusiasts with the works of Iconic figures like Andy Warhol, Bob Dylan and Johnny Depp.
This project was organised by Penn Elcom’s UK Sales Manager Dan Johnson after meeting Dale at an art festival in Hastings. “I met Dale during a local community art festival where he was producing his art live in front of an audience. His style, passion and techniques inspired me to talk with him. After learning about his background as a CNC engineer and feeling his passion for creativity and machines, I felt I should introduce him to the company and see if we could collaborate on creating some works for us. The initial consultation with Dale on this project was seamless; we gave him a tour of the Hastings site and the background of Penn Elcom’s history and then he went away and produced the pieces which I was extremely happy with. Dale has a unique ability to blend vivid colours with profound, creating artwork that not only beautifies but also inspires and connects.”
